Default Water Pump Drama's

Hey all,

Just wanted to have a little rage.. lol
Was driving to my parents place yesterday and just as i turn into the street i hear a couple of loud clunks then the sight of a pulley rolling in the rear vision mirror. I immediately pulled over, popped the bonnet.. and what do i see..
The pulley that bolts onto the water pump has come off, and no, it wasnt because the bolts were loose or snapped off.. the effin bracket itself came off the pump.. No idea how the hell that happened..
The belt obviously came off also.

New waterpump and pulley ordered. Sigh..

I gotta confess this has me a little confused. The accessory belt goes under the crank pulley, under and around the A/C compressor, then goes backwards around the water pump, before looping around the alternator.

The water pump pulley is bolted on with 3 (IIRC) bolts to the shaft that goes into the water pump housing.

What part actually broke?

ur right. the water pump pulley is bolted on with 3 bolts to a triangular bracket. then that bracket is held onto the waterpump rod (the rod goes through the centre of the bracket).

the part that broke off is the bracket.. i.e it broke off the rod..
