I'd love to see HK go to McLaren. I like him and I think behind the wheel of a McLaren he could see some podiums in '08.

 

man i was too late to post this topic 0.o;; anyways very surprising. like all others, i am pretty sure kovalainen will go to mclaren. he will obviously be the number 2 driver and wont cause any conflict with hamilton and mclaren will have a set of young drivers

I don't expect to see a Renault resurgence now they've got their wonderboy back. I don't feel a bit sorry for Fisichella who has disgraced himself in his 3 years with the team.

All those years of Renault driver development down the tube for heikki ? Hmmm ? I don't think McLaren would be ideal for him - the team are already planning to put their full backing behind Lewis' 2008 campaign. Heikki could always end up at Toyota with Trulli being demoted to test driver.

As for their new boy, they are taking a chance on piquet jr and hoping he'll be the next wonder kid like hamilton. Its obvious Renault will give No. 1 status to Fernando. I just hope Piquet's arrogance motivates him enough to ride Hamilton close at times.. But that depends on what Symonds can deliver.

I see Renault coming on late in 2008.

 

I think that Alonso felt that Kovalainen would be too much competition for him, and he did not want to have stiff competition from the number 2 driver, especially after the experience he had at McLaren. I have no basis for knowing this, and it is purely rank speculation on my part. But I think that as the season progessed Kovalainen did remarkably well for Renault, given the limitations of the car and the team's difficulty in adapting the the Bridgestone tires.

 

I don't see a resurgence for Renault even with Alonso. The car was totally not competitve last year. I guess we'll have to wait and see though!

 

I hope the escape clause is real. Hopefully after 1 year, he will leave Renault, and Join the Honda Racing F1 Team, as Ross said Honda is not right place for F! in 08...BUT, 09 on...Lets hope!!!!
