Towing is great guys, go for it.

When ya get serious feel free to ask away with questions.

For me I'm thrilled, one of my friends has a huge old farm as in many old barns. I'm going to get my trailer over there for winter storage so it does not have to sit outside in the snow. I figure all I have to do is throw a tarp over it so it does not get covered with pigeon crap.

I am thinking of making the jump to a tow vehicle/track car/trailer.

Couple of questions if you don't mind:

1. Why did you pick the Titan over the Ford etc etc.
2. Why didn't you go with a Ford diesel or any other make?
3. What kind of MPG do you get when towing vs. not towing in city/hwy?
4. Why didn't you get a SUV instead. My wife would rather drive a SUV than a truck when I am not towing.
5. What kinda trailer are you using? how much does it weigh?

Sorry for all the questions.

TIA

Ritesh

1- Go drive them back to back and answer that for yourself. For me- not only does the Ford feel like a performance challenged slug, it does not show much innovative thinking, and there is no way that crap tranny can even come close to the manual shift 5-speed in the Titan.
2- I don't have any desire to own a diesel and have the challenge of where to get fuel, I don't live in a megalopolis, there are lots of gas stations I drive by in the country that don't have diesel. And with 380 ft-lbs of torque and a load of about 5,000 pounds I don't even need a diesel. The truck is my daily driver.
3- I get 18+ on the highway, 14-16 on my daily drive from the country to downtown and back, my tow mileage was in to 10 range.
4- I don't want no sissy SUV. I have owned pickups for a very long time, I want a hauling space designed to haul, should I need a load of gravel I can get it, should I need a load of mulch I can get it, should I need to haul a bunch of concrete blocks, 2x4s, 2x8s, 4'x8' plywood I can do so. You try hauling stuff like that in an SUV and you will not only run out of room you will trash the interior faster than hell.
5- BriMar CH16OD. That's steel, 16' long + 2' beaver tail for a deck of 18', not enclosed, open deck. It has a weight of 1,690 pounds and is rated at 7,000 pounds max load, twin axels with brakes on all 4 wheels.

That was not a lot of questions...

Yes indeed, I have yet to do so, but that will be a cool feature. Should make the final fall engine oil, tranny fluid and rear diff gear changes a tad easier.

I'm also very happy I got an open deck because it made tying it down way easier, I could actually see what I was doing...

R-hook right into frame as per service manual instructions

Sounds like a story you owe me when I'm up there.

Oh, while I'm thinking about it - Happy Thanksgiving!
