Wanted to say Hi to you Triple-H! I sent you a PM about 3 weeks ago but never heard back. I'm persistent though so until you tell me to take a hike I'll keep bugging you!
Damn, I somehow missed that???
Of course this web site is always so perfect and all...

[QUOTE=Tadashi,May 16 2007, 02:32 PM] Since this whole thread is off topic hopefully I won't get yelled at for being off topic

I attended my 2nd track day at NH in April - had alot of fun, and really feel like I got the line down this time...

Will you be going to the Oct 29/30 Watkins Glen event with SCDA?

The road course at NH is pretty fun. It is tight and I think it was a great place to start out at. I'm afraid after I drive at the Glen I am going to be totally spoiled about going to smaller places I watched a WG lap via video and it looks like a blast. There is one long corner that just keeps going. I would love a ride during the instructor on track session too!

Oh - my other question I had in my PM was about rollbars... All the ones I've seen so far are in the $800+ range which is a tad out of range unless I quit doing track days for awhile

Do you think finding something used would be OK? Are there any cheaper alternatives you could suggest? My husband is very handy with both mechanical and body work (that's why I married him) and we should be able to do any of the installation required...

Thanks!
Ellen

Rollbars not an easy thing... I spent about 2 grand on mine, full custom. Used would be a fair option, if you can find something out about the original builder, mainly what kind of metal the bar is made from, simple mild steel ain't the strongest stuff.

In all honestly, you should field your question in Racing and Competition, I have not stayed up to speed on rollbars really because mine is done. I do however appreciate you desire to have one, I find running around the track in other people's S to be a bit un-nerving after a while.

Maybe not as I have 2 Glen Schools in that same time frame.

Well geeze I can't blame you for that. If I had a choice between track day and meet I'd have to go with track too I enjoyed the tip on the radios... I might get one of those in-helmet setups to keep in the car just in case.

The first instructor I drove with had a good one and it was really easy to hear him but the last guy didn't have anything and it was much harder to hear. Had to keep the top up in order to hear anything

Always happy to help...

BTW- stay tuned to here, I'm buying some new images from my last track events, I'm hoping to get them up this week. I'm especially loving the pic of The Glen's Toe of the Boot (Turn 7) in the rain, I'm in front of one of my friend's BMW E30, a great driver who was damn hard to pass...
