as always these rule changes are supposed to lead to more on track passing. of late, most on track passes made are by the leaders lapping the field. i'm not sure what could be done to change this if f1 is to continue as the pinnicale of technoligy in auto racing. i don't like the idea of standardization of key conponets to control costs. couldn't the fia limit what a teams has to spend with a set budget ceiling? x amount of $ per season to spend how ever a team chooses. working within a fixed budget will still allow for and foster inovative designs from each team. i just like the premmis of, heres the rules, you build it your way i'll do it my way, lets race.

I say put SO2's on 'em and let the engines, suspensions and aeropackages handle the grip.

Seriously, standardize the tire design and let the car design respond accordingly.
