Default good idea?

i was thinking about this yesterday: since there is a bigger field of cars in f1, how about they go back to knock out qualifying, but not how it is now, like they used to in the old days, maybe the last 3 or 4 don't get to race in the GP if they don't QUALIFY

why would they build up the field only to have cars not be in the race?

Qualifying will just have to be slightly modified to accommodate the larger grid.

I hope they run the same basic format, but with low fuel throughout. It's a given that the cars will have to start with full tanks. Probably just have to knock out a couple more cars each session, like eight each in Q1 and Q2, then still have the top 10 fight for pole.

given that refuelling will be banned. Q3 does not make sense to run with race fuel loads, so it should also be low fuel, then everyone fill up for the race...
