You can go off topic and onto Ayrton Senna any day, any hour, in any thread and it will be just fine with me. As I sit here to type out a reply I can feel the tears welling up in the corner of my eyes, Ayrton's death hit me very hard as I watched it all unfold on that fateful Mother's Day.
In a word yes!
One thing almost everybody agreed upon was his ability to just always get 110% out of a car. He had a driving gift like Schumacher, but had a passion and a fire like very few people. Michael's combination was skill and brains, Senna was more skill and passion. You never saw MS loose his composure in public, he was and remains the constant professional. AS on the other hand could often be counted on for an explosion of somekind, this is a man who after a crash with Eddie Irvine just walked up to him and demonstrated his winter training program - boxing. Eddie went down, and I mean down for the count.
One of the other amazing things about AS's drives, and I'm sure it was partly because times were different then, but never the less it was a factor. When AS was coming up on a slower car, and I don't just mean a back marker, I mean someone who should continue to fight, they would just pull over and let him go through. It was like the other drivers knew, he is coming through, one way or the other, now I can keep fighting and put myself in jepordy, or I can just get the hell out of his way and let him go; and that i exactly what they would do.
RB has past his prime as far as I'm concerned, he may have a role as a tester to help with setiup but I don't see him having the fire to win. JB, honestly, I think he is nothing but an average driver. You bet AS could be accomplishing more, no question about it in my mind.

when u bring up the part of ppl going to side to let senna pass, in a way it shows respect towards him. like u said y push myself to limit and possibly cause a fatal accident just trying to stay in front of someone who will pass me. i remember reading one of members sig and had a very touching/inspiring quote from senna from Monaco GP'88. it also had him describing himself and how he was able to constantly push his car in qualifying. it was amazing, and i made sure i copied and paste the quote for me to always look at. i rather not post it becuz it is quite long.
looking on wiki, it said that senna had many races where he won with an inferior car with mclaren. with that i can believe that he could have pushed both the RA107 and RA108 more than either JB or RB(well he is kind of dead weight at honda). i really hope that bruno is really what AS said he is. it would be nice to have another racer with the same characteristics as AS.
on another note, i wonder if and when honda will post any insight on their melbourne package that they are supposed to be testing this week. i would like to see some improvements otherwise, we r going to have to wait til 09 season to see the changes at honda show enormous progress.
, I was hoping the season would be starting up soon. Can't wait to see it on my new 46" tv! I'm so glad speed covers things in HD now I can't wait for this season to start. Let's go Honda and let's go Lewis Hamilton!

Off to Melbourne we go!

I was going to post the Speed coverage schedule, but it does not appear to be online yet.
I can't believe we can finally say, the race is on next weekend!

Unfortunately, i really dont think even Senna can turn the car around. A great driver can only do so much.
Ellen is going to have a holy jihad on you...
Nah, I don't have alot of hope for this season either
2009 after Brawn has a year with the team should be brighter.
Maybe the 2nd half of the year will show some promise.
And maybe after I get MY "race car" back on the road life in general will look more hopeful again

I hate this time of year. I want spring/summer to be here and no more snow!

Ross, not Rubino...I think Ross is going to bring a HUGE amount of growth to Honda. Plus, I really wonder if somehow Ross will not somehow help Rubino to step up and accomplish more because they have so much history with each other from Ferrrari. Rubino I still believe can offer Honda a great deal in car set up and experience, and I am just hoping Ross can pull that talent out of Rubino this year and apply it to Honda. Who knows, maybe I'm just dreaming, but it sounds like a viable theory to me.
