Looking for Purchase Advice
I really wanted to get some feedback here. For 2 months, i haven't owned a car, waiting for the right mileage, right priced s2k to come along. I have a max of 14,500 for an 02 or older, can go up to 16k for an 03+ (due to loan period and rate). So far, not a whole lot out there. I originally wanted 60k miles or less. Thing is now, I can't decide if I should go ahead, lower my price, and buy a higher mileage one (around 90k miles) and autox it on occasion. I am a student, so it wouldn't be a regular occurence, and the car will need to survive as a DD. First thing I can think to ask is should I be afraid of higher mileage on one of these? A friend of a friend is selling their 05 s2k (may even be a member on here, wouldn't know) with 90k miles on it for $11,750 This would leave me with a few grand to spend on some goodies to get it on the track.
"Auto-Racing Discussion" Seeing as there's nothing specifically related to autox, i put it here. Looking for some genuine feedback and ideas bounced off me. Check my posts, nothing like a bot pattern from me. Get out of my thread if you have nothing useful to say.
^ Keep it civil guys, please
beanseff is right in that S2000 Talk is where this discussion usually happens. ARD is a forum for race fans and discussion of race series like F1, IRL, Grand AM.
ZR1Vette09 - daily driving an S2000 depends on where you live. If you live in an area with significant snow accumulation, then the S may not be the right car for you. Some people do drive it in the winter, should you choose to, then make sure you have a set of wheels with dedicated snows

Higher mileage - should not be a problem as long as the car has been well kept and has all service records. Once an engine has over 100K miles on it, there will be required maintenance and that is par for the course. Dont think of the S as cheap to maintain like the Civic. It is relatively more expensive.
As far as your friends S2000 goes, check it out and have it inspected. Make sure you go through all service records etc. oh! and the only goodies you'll need to take it to track are helmet, brakes and tires in good condition. Dont spend money on mods. The S is plenty fun in stock form.
Again, beanseff is right. I'd recommend that you post this in S2000 Talk https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showforum=1 as you will get a lot more responses there. That is the correct forum to be posting this topic in.
Good luck

S2000 discussion should be more on-topic in the S2000 Talk forum as stated above.
