I don't usually post in here although I enjoy the open wheel coverage when it makes its way to the TV. Anyway to my point. Most of us know that our cars names were derived from track names, but I have never seen a thing relating to my color - Silverstone. Well this past week, F1 held the British GP at Silverstone! Not more than 10 minutes after I stumbled across the qualifying session, Speed Channel was gracious enough to give me an entire lap of the in-car camera angle! It was a clean hot lap with no traffic and a wide open qualifying attempt - perfect for experiencing the twists and turns of the layout.

As for the race, Alonso and the Renault team seem to be on fire! Each race I've caught has them launching alot faster than the other teams, and they just keep gaining ground from there on out. Impressive.

Has anyone else here been lucky enough to experience their track / color namesake firsthand? That would be a thrill!!!

1st let me say, you should post here more often, I'm sure we can get you more addicted to F1.

Silverstone is a very fast track and one with a rich history.

Those Inside Grand Prix programs put on by Speed are great, I do agree. And you should see a hot lap around Spa Franchamps.

 

I must be getting old....... have a Silverstone and I never gave it a thought...... during this weekends F1......... No, I'm not that far gone, I did know where the name came from! Just never thought about it as I watched the Honda blow.

 

Sad, sad, sad...

And not you not thinking about it, but the fact that the Honda gernaded again...
