I think allot of women do enjoy auto racing...I meet women who follow F1, Nascar, rally, etc. quite often but I have noticed they tend to be "older," say mid-30's and up...can't quite explain that.
Hey, hey my wife is in her early 30's. Enough of a F1 fan that she named our two little boys after F1 legends. Plus she travels with me to a different F1 venue every year.

Now if there can be both trophy GUYS as well as girls, at least that would be fair.

Just messing with you I didn't realize you were a girl.

I can agree with this, but I guess what I don't see is how the trophy girls relate to women who actually race. Those girls are just there to parade around and look good, I'd be surprised if even 1 in 100 of them gave a shit about the racing or motorsports at all. They're just models. I doubt that there are more than 1 or 2 cases of a trophy girl EVER going from trophy girl to driver.
Here on the West Coast there are some great looking So Cal girls who not only race karts and podium from time to time but they are also umbrella girls for their BF's . Besides who want to stare at sausages all day long?

Best of both worlds.

Today was a awesome day here in So Cal. So after taking my 5 year old to school I took my liter sportbike to my local canyon. Got into the twisties and found myself behind a girl on a 600 sportbike. She rode well and fairly fast. I could have dusted her (her bike sounded stock mine is 370 pounds & 180RWHP). But I sat back and rode behind her. She had great legs . Beats riding with guys any day.

A college degree in engineering or something very applicable would be a major goal as far as I'm concerned. In addition, lots of pro racers have come up through the ranks of organizations like Skip Barber. People who compete in those series are all on equally matched machines, therefore talent is easily seen, and those are the people who get the big ticket rides.

What ever you do, don't let other people's negativity hold you back! If this is something you want to persue the go for it. There will be lots of people you meet in life who like to piss all over other people's dreams, I find the best way to deal with their negativity is to just ignore them. One of the worst words in the entire English language is can't; don't let it become a part of your vocabulary.

Good luck!

please stop flamin the thread... if u want to chat about the girls start a new one please. Sure i play video games. M spelling may be a little off but how does that account for racing skills?? it doesnt. now the last thing i want to hear is "just because are good a video games..." IMHO i dont care what you think because its not helping. If club racing is the way to start then so be it. if its karting then ill go for it. Its just that I cant stand karts... dont know why but I just do. If push comes to shove and that is what is necessary then i will do it. Im not crazy about racing, im one step below it... passionate (for my own racing). I have quit all my other sports and have started saving for a car. If you have more info on how to get started or help (links or quickies) on making a spec RX7 then post. if its somthing degrading or un-needed then please DO NOT POST.

**Edit** Street racing is fun but not worth it if you get caught so therefore im taking it to a track and want to make a living off of it.

You got some good advice in this thread about your original topic which was...."Starting a career in racing". I am not sure what you are so upset about, it

What tracks do you live near?

As I said before, join the SCCA or NASA regions in your area and hang around the tracks. These are grass-roots volunteer racing organizations that always need help in many areas (Timing & scoring, grid, flagging, etc). Take some initiative, offer to help, and while learning the ropes you'll find out what cars, classes you are interested in.......Then save up some bucks for the next step...

Watch E-Bay ----> EBay Motors Search - Racing (not Street legal) Road Racing

As a matter of fact, since you mentioned RX7's and BMW's. There is a nice BMW 318i that is NASA and SCCA legal for $ 10K.

BMW SCCA/NASA legal

and an RX7!
