We swapped in the F20C, replaced the clutch unit with all OEM bearings and disc and a ACT pressure plate. The engine mounts we blown as well, which were most likely the original 18 year olds mounts, so they got replace with Mugen mounts. In short, all these parts including the engine feel like the stock parts turned to 11 in a good way. They won't blow your mind but you can tells things are more focused under you feet.
We did run into an issue with the engine losing power under VTEC, a month later we discovered that it was a bad MAP sensor.
I'm happy with the things I've been able to do this season, from the hardtop to now a healthy power unit. Next thing I'm looking into now for next season is upgrading to a high end suspension, with fresh bushings and bolts, get to 2600lb and replacing the front bumper. I love the way the Mugen SS looks, but it is discontinued, so I may have to go the replica route.
The very day after I posted the last update, the car got rear ended by another driver on the exit of a drive thru while parked. Damage were...
Trunk
driver tailight
rear bumper
front bumper
front lip.
The car is at the bodyshop currently being taken apart for a supplemental estimate of the damage.
ugh. Hurts my heart to see this. Minding your own business. sucks man.
Hopefully this is an oppertunity for an exciting new front end, like @jcdeng said.
The insurance will be making me whole thankfully. As far as front end I really wanted the Mugen SS front bumper but that is discontinued. The only way I’d do aftermarket is if the thing is authentic since 10/10 fitment is a must for me. It looks like the car will be getting OEM treatment, and that’s not a bad thing imo!
It looks like you could possibly get a new OEM AP2 fender liner + bumper and do a CR lip all on insurances dime since they are the only OEM lips available.
Maybe some extended fenders? I'm not sure which ones are the best.
MAKE SURE you ask for your car's DIMINISHED VALUE since now it is "worth" less due to having an accident and non-original parts.
And insurance should also pay for an alignment to make sure all those components are not damaged and the vehicle is able to be properly aligned too but you'll have to ask for both of these.
