Probably one of my favorite Rio's to date.

You sir, give me some inspiring goals.

Got another set of Advan RSII's this time in my preferred color:

I'll sell my blue RSII's when my CE28N's arrive or if someone really wants my set sooner.

My roll bar is finally in my car, but I'm waiting for my 6 point harnesses to arrive so I can get the car properly set up to use them safely. At this stage I'm partially feeling regret for all the hacking up I have to do on a clean car to run all the safety equipment, but this was my original goal so I just have to see through it all. Realized I can't even use my OEM rear hard top catchers because I had to remove a bracket that holds 2 of the bolts.

On a positive note, the guys at Evasive called and said my J's Type S hood came in. Hope it looks and fits good.

I'll be at Laguna Seca on the 26th of this month so trying to get everything wrapped up before then.

You can get the brackets for the hardtop from the CR I believe to let your run the OEM catchers. Will overall be a bit heavier than simple brackets but nice if you want to maintain ease of removal. Will depend on the roll bar I suppose though.

Was it necessary to remove that large cross member that supports the OEM roll hoops to install your roll bar? It seems like that could be a fairly important structural element.

You can also run the HT catchers without all the bolts. Been doing it for years. It's the two large ones you keep anyways.

Yes that had to go, but was replaced by what seems like a much stronger structural piece (bulkhead replacement bar). I'll take photos the next time I get a chance.

As far as the catchers go, I only really remove the top for easier access to work on the car so I ordered some bolt in fasteners. Hope I'm happy with them.

Did all of your bolt holes line up for that. I could get all but one bolt hole to line up.

what rollbar did you end up getting? sounds like an RSG or Hard Dog, since you mentioned the bulkhead replacement bar.

i keep going back and forth about getting one. don't plan on tracking my S, but would like the peace of mind, esp since i take it on so many roadtrips. the bar is actually one of the few mods that my gf greenlighted. don't think she realizes that it restricts seat adjustability a bit though.

Nope. My guy ended up denting the bulge where the gas tank is just a bit to make it fit.

I would definitely stay OEM with all that if you don't plan do to track days. Even if you just plan to do a couple a year I'd stay OEM. It's always a risk whether you are making your car safer or worse when you start modifying factory safety components. Without crash tests, it's all a gamble. The only reason I'm doing this is because I bought this car intentionally as a track car and I'm pushing the car to the point where I'd feel safer running a 6 point harness and HANS device. I drive it on the street more than I should only because it's my only fun car at the moment.

If you don't track your car don't waste your money on a rollbar. I'd have gladly not hacked up my interior if I didn't have to, and there's a bigger chance of injury due to you smacking your head on the rollbar than injury due to an actual rollover on the street. If you plan on driving around on the street with a helmet, then I say go for it.
