Default ***Official Announcement: the 49'er Run is on!***

Hey Guys,

I'm here to announce a run which promises to surpass any other drive you've ever done-- the 49'er Run!

The 49'er Run will be modeled after such events as the Gumball Rallye and Player's Run; however this is not a run for primadonnas who are willing to drop $10K just to have dinner with a playboy bunny. This is a drive for drivers.

It's an 8 day event that will go from Los Angeles, CA to Hyder, Alaska! There are no luxury hotels where we are going, just bed&breakfasts, mountains, good beer, and great camaraderie.

Sound like fun? Check out this link: www.americanxcountry.com
We're sure you'll have fun. Send in your application early though as space is limited to 25 cars only.

I hope you can make it.

You really should consider a more scenic route thru CA. IMO of course.

I realize that I-5 may suck thorugh central Cal. But the drive through Oregon, Washington, and BritishColumbia IS scenic. And since we don't want people to have to ship their cars home, half the time must be used for the drive home thus precluding taking side roads the whole way.

Except for the short bit of I-5 between Lake Shasta and Weed, I-5 is major suckage through Northern California as well. Lots of additional suckage in Oregan as well.

It's absolutely crazy that such a drive wouldn't take you up the coast, at least between San Luis Obispo/San Francisco/Crescent City.

Maybe you should do a loop instead of a long out and back. The Iron Butt Assoc does their rally every other year (http://www.ironbutt.com/) that way and it works out pretty well (pretty much the four corners of the US in 10 days).
