Hey Guys,

I'm here to announce a run which promises to surpass any other drive you've ever done-- the 49'er Run!

The 49'er Run will be modeled after such events as the Gumball Rallye and Player's Run; however this is not a run for primadonnas who are willing to drop $10K just to have dinner with a playboy bunny. This is a drive for drivers.

It's an 8 day event that will go from Los Angeles, CA to Hyder, Alaska! There are no luxury hotels where we are going, just bed&breakfasts, mountains, good beer, and great camaraderie.

Sound like fun? Check out this link: www.americanxcountry.com
We're sure you'll have fun. Send in your application early though as space is limited to 25 cars only.

I hope you can make it.

Sounds like a lot of fun. 100.00 is pretty cheap. I don't know about "promises to surpass any other drive you've ever done" Even if I wanted to go, I can't! AUGUST is the traditional "MEGAMEET 3" Don't forget!!

Good luck!

This will be towards the end of August, beginning around the 17th.

Is this the same event as the other post with some guy from Texas, I think?
Checked the site ,doesn't mention anything about having support vehicles with spare parts in case of trouble. As I mentioned in the other post , I have hunted in Canada and some of those roads have many potholes ( harsh winters) but the real butt clencher is coming across wildlife in the middle of the road. Any provisions being made for oil changes at the very least. Tire changes ? I have had my car for about 10 months and 9000 miles and I'm on my third and soon to be fourth set of tires. A trip this long is going to require a new set without a doubt. But my biggest question is you don't want a Gumball or Running of the Bulls type event but you make the point that this is supposed to be a drivers event? To me this seems contradictory,my point is I don't think follow the leader type driving is very fun as do many of my mates. With the Lambo events we had CHP escorts and triple digits blasts. Without hooligan type driving like the Gumball or Player's run (202 mph in the case of the Ruf on a country road) what's the point? As for not staying at a high end hotel I think after driving for 500 miles a day, I wouldn't mind some luxury. Anyway that's something to chew on , it's concept is a good start but many loose ends have to be ironed out first.

We will make provisions for oil changes. As for tire changes, I don't know how you drive but I've had my car for 7 months, 13000 miles and the tires are ABOUT to need changing. We will try to secure police escorts, so not to worry.

Please don't misunderstand this will be a balls-out event. When I say not Gumball rallye type, I mean: no frills. As for support vehicles, these are Hondas, so no, no support vehicles. Oh and by August, the potholes should be fixed. It is our inaugural run and thus we trying some things out, but we expect it to go smoothly. That being said we are planning for some contingencies.
