I would like gloves that fit like mechanic's gloves, but it seems like all racing gloves are longer by 2 -3 inches at the wrist

To overlap the sleeves of your racing suit, in case of a fire.

I noticed that too! I'd prefer to find a pair without the 2-3 extra inches since I don't wear a racing suit, ever.

Oops, my mistake, time to hunt down JP for his review on those Alpine Stars.

Will look at the model when I get home. For the most part, I dont like driving with gloves & there are sections on the glove that are really grippy. Sometimes I like to have the gloves when my hands get clammy but I still need to get use to the extra grip because it gets in the way of my inputs & release of the wheel making for less smooth transitions.

Works well in the winter too when driving with the windows down.

Generally speaking, if it is a racing glove, then it's going to be long, otherwise it would defeat the purpose. If you are set on getting short gloves, then look at general purpose gloves.

I might end up with some snazzy baseball batting gloves or mechanics gloves.
They might make a more cost effective solution too.

I've got TEIN gloves, but they never leave their packaging.

i recommend going to the store to try on a bunch. See what fits you best. the infineon store is probably the best local store.
