Well it was hard to tell with ten tons of break dust on top of them, but I PAINTED them WHITE six months ago. I've run a bazzilion times at the autox, but this was the first track day. I used white BBQ paint of all things. Its rated to 1500degrees if you cure the breaks after painting them. Because of the color though, its a real bitch to keep them clean. Then again, its a real bitch to keep white leather clean too.
There is a place locally that will powder coat them for $100, I figure I'll go that route if the paint doesn't hold up.

Porterfield R4s + Super Blue weren't the ticket. Fluid was fine but pads glazed and crumbled. I was only driving 8 to 9/10ths all day. Because it was Laguna I paid special attention to being easy on the brakes. Pads still went to sh@t.
I tried to get a dual-purpose pad but it didn't work out. Next time I'll try the panther plus.

Well I'll add in here for your matrix. I had no problems at all, running Hawk Blues and Superblue. Though I'll admit that I hadn't worked up to heavy braking yet (my method to learning tracks is to first learn the fast sweepers, then the slow corners, and then I work on my braking points).
Anyway, I've had no problems ever with the ATE Superblue. The fluid in there right now has had a Gingerman day (downright evil on brakes, I melted my dust seals out there) then 3 months of street driving and then Laguna Seca and the fluid is still good.
The Hawk pads held up well, though they do tend to chew up rotors and I'm very interested in the other brakes thread going on about matching the pads to the application (temperature wise).

By the way, I am still running the same pads and fluid as I was at Laguna, I have been to 2 more track events and 2K miles since then, Sears Point and Buttonwillow. No problems at all other than all the DUST...sheesh these Panther Plus pads are VERY DUSTY!!! More so than the Porterfields but pedal feel is much better with the Panther pads.
