Default OEM S-02 purchase, where to buy them? Need the inside scoop.

I'm going to be in the Bay Area in a week and might need to get a replacement set of S-02s for the rear. What's the best deal going in the Bay Area? Should I do the drop/ship from TireRack or just buy locally? Any recommendations would be appreciated. North Bay, South Bay, East Bay, doesn't matter as long as I can get a decent price and my rims don't get beat up. Thanks.

Yeah, order from Tire Rack and drop ship them to a local installer. Several people on this board use Northstar in Mountain View.

I heard American Tires will match the Tirerack price.
Do a search on those guys first!

The advantage of going with Tire Rack is that you know you'll be getting the correct version of S-02 for the car. Besides, since their warehouse is in Reno, they can get them here in a day or two.

I agree with scottrnelson. With Jim at the TireRack you can be sure to get the S2000 only S-02s so the rear tires will actually be the right size.

Hey...thanks for all your input, I ended up using AutoOptions in Berkeley for the tire purchase and install. They are a TireRack recommended installer but the guy there, well yeah I guess his name is Bill, matched TireRack's price. Thanks again.

i never understood that logic. why reward someone with your business just because they were able to match someone elses price. Why not reward that company that actually posted the low price in the first place? if American Tire can sell the tires at the same prices, why aren't they posted at that price in the first place?
