Holy shit! As sad as it is to say, I am glad I read this thread. I have a bad habit of hammering it when the freeway is empty. 110 seems like 70 in the Benz . I got pulled over on may way to work @ 3 in the morning in Pleasanton recently. I was going ~115-120, but the copy wrote me up for 80 [$115 ticket].

the man always makes it to court, especially when someone is doing over 100. If the man isn't able to make it they'll ask for (and get) a continuance.
One time I got pulled over for doing 100 + (closer to 130) on IXX in the bay area. He yelled at first, then threatened, then lectured, then complimented my car (that is a damn fast car, i mean damn fast) and after this I went along my way, driving the speed limit, so lucky to escape with only a few more missing hairs from my head. Another story, but unless you had a simliar experience I'd get a lawyer.
I guess you are lucky, you could have been beaten, robbed, had your car impounded, and tossed in jail.

i think there are even lawyers that will only take payment if they find in your favor (whatever that means).

a lawyer shouldn't cost over a grand, maybe 1500 around here. Find one that knows and is loved by the prosecutor's office. Vibrate positively and maybe they'll cut you a deal.
good luck!! hope you get a break.

Good luck to you on fighting the ticket. Get yourself a radar detector. It may save you some headache later. Watch out for CHP around the Caldecott tunnel, they usually hang out/hide on either side of the tunnel.

When you get a ticket, if you want to know the consequences, please post the specific vehicle code you violated.
Depending on what they wrote you up for, it could be anything.
22348b is Speeds over 100.
The court can assess up to $1000 in fines with up to the same in "court fees"
This counts as 2 points on your driving record which automatically makes you ineligible for a "Good Driver" discount with your insurance.
It also comes with an optional 30 day license suspension.
I paid $1200 + 30 days + 2 points for my 138 in a 65 in 1997.

115 on the I5 near stockdale hwy. No impound, no jail. $1726 in fines.
This was 2 years ago. I got on their no-interest payment plan and I'm still paying for it. I have about $400 left lol
