Default 1st Accident - what and where should I go.

Thank fully it wasn't in my S2000 but it was in my 1 month old IS300! A lady in a Kia Rio rearended me. Not much damage, just the rear bumper I think.

I already called her insurance company and they said to get it fixed and send them the bill, but is that all? I mean It's brand freakin new! Now I'm going to be with out it for a couple weeks and its going to show it's been in an accident if I want to sell it!

Is that is? Do I just have to sit back and take the losses. I know lifes not fair and blah blah blah but I just so damn pissed off that my new car gets f@$%ed because some lady in a car thats cost less than my down payment doesn't know how to drive!

Anyways, where should I get this fixed? I don;'t want some cheap aftermarket bumper sprayed by maaco to almost match the rest of the car that will eventually fade and chip in a few months......

Ok Sorry about the ranting and raving, just a little pissed.

Any suggestions

Thanks
JT

JT -

1st of all - never admit that you're in the wrong, even if you are (it will come back to haunt you - either way)...
2nd - complain that your lower back hurts - doctors can't determine if it's true or not...
3rd - go see BC - he's a chiropractor (keeping it in the family - S2000)...
4th - take your IS to Lexus to get it fixed, since she's going to be paying for it, right? (if your IS is leased, just tell Lexus that when it got fixed, they did the work - you won't get hit for extra charges - same goes for if you bought it)...
5th - relax... things could have been a lot worse - you're still alive!

I know it sucks, I've have people "F" up my sh!t and it's a big pain in the ass. But what are we going to do? Not drive b/c people are idiots? It'll be okay.

Hope this helps.

sorry to hear that, i "kinda" know how's that feel like

my S got rearended a couple weeks ago. this is what i did.

- i got the insurance info from the other party.
- i reported it to my own insurance. i denied to claim my own full coverage insurance for the damage and claim the other party's liability for the damage. (since i got rearended, the other party is/should be 100% in fault)
- i have both insurance companies + 1 more body shop estimated the repair for the damage. ended up the estimate from the other (responsible) party's insurance company has the highest quote. and they admit to be in fault and will take 100% responsibility.
- they send me a check for the amount of the estimate and i can decide on where to get it fixed.

i think i got lucky since the damage is minimal (but all 3 estimate still involves replacing and spraying the whole rear bumper), nobody got hurt and the other party is 100% in fault and admit responsibility.

good luck, i hope everything works out ok.

If you got rearended, there's a good chance you've got neck and/or back problems. Definitely go see Back-cracker. I'd see him myself if he weren't in friggin Irvine.

Damn JT, yet another S2K and IS300 owner.

Sorry to hear about your accident. I haven't had any work on my IS300 done yet, so I'm not sure where would be a good place to go.

Welcome to the driving world. If that's one of the whatever number of accidents each driver gets into, count yourself lucky and move on.

Beware insurance fraud, that's a worse rap than owning a car that's been hit.

i am in the same bind. talk to insurance company about paying you a depreciation costs. it is something that insurance companies do, but dont tell people about, kinda like a secret. hope this helps. oh and if they try to screw you out of depreciation costs, then you might want to see "how" bad your back actually hurts.
