and for the last 12 years...4600

a lot of area are using Pop radar, Lazer or Ka

so it no like you are going to buy updates every year...

nomatter what you buy... if your tagged by Lazer and you are the fastest or only car
10mph over.... you will be busted

you still have to be aware of your road and where they HIDE

I don't agree. My Passport 8500 X50 has lit up a number of laser (Lidar) units without me being detected. It makes a strange noise, like an old fashion phone. Gets my attention every time.

V1 Hands down IMHO. Saved my A$$ more times than I can count, the arrows tell me where to look, and the bogey counter tells me how many signals I'm getting.

wow this is "mega-super-duper-confusing"
every other person suggests the V1, and the other people suggest the the X50...
is there a clear consesus anywhere? like... if you want "this" get the X50, and if you want "that", get the V1
hmmm hmm hmmm

V1 positives:
Arrow that shows direction
Number of boggies that show how many there are
Upgrade ability
Option of hidden display (I have that and it work great)
Adjust signals/bands on or off
... (please add to list V1 owners!)

V1 Negatives:
None that I can think of

X50 positives:
Cheaper

X50 (objective) negatives:
Not upgradable
No hidden display
Does not show direction
Does not show boggie count

*Disclaimer* obviously I'm a bit biased

what is this bogey counter?

I have a Whistler radar detector from RadioShack. I was supposed to return it after I used it for my trip to Vegas but I lost my money clip and lost the receipt, so now I have to keep it!!!

Whistler:

-I can turn X-band off.
-It saved me when I was coming home from Vegas.
-$59.99
