We are just the opposite....

250 was a little bigger picked up any and all wind noise

500 is little thinner, wind noise is minimial... range 7-10 feet

range for both suxed with 250 a little worse 3-5 feet only

buy them both and see for your self, check on the return policy

hey, Pic,
i cant get over the feeling that the bt500 isn't as comfortable as the bt250. it must be the shape for me cuz i know it's lighter and thinner. do u happen to use it with a bluetooth 1.2 phone? i only have 1.1 and wonder what 1.2 is like.

I went to Cingular and they only had the Motorola HS820, HS850, the Jabra BT250 and the Oakley Razrwire. Since the Motorola were known to not be good and the BT250 is the lower grade of the BT500 I just picked up the Oakley Razrwire to test.

I picked up the BT500 at CompUSA just now too and will test that one after it charges. THe Razrwire is freaking expensive. $295 plus tax. It does come with a pair of Oakleys but they don't look very good either.

I'm waiting for the Jabra to finish charging. I"ll go test the Razrwire outside in a bit. It works fine indoors. You don't have to wear the sunglasses and you can remove bluetooth headset from the glasses and put it in your ear but it does look kinda funny with a thing sticking out of your ear. You can also attach it to any other pair of sunglasses or regular glasses but it won't be a perfect fit.

I'm gonna go for a drive on the freeway now.

Okay, the RazrWire headset is a PIECE OF $HIT. I had the call drop 7 times in within 3 miles to work. (The phone was in my pocket so if its a range issue, it still sucks) I didn't even bother going on the freeway as the other side couldn't hear too well over 40 mph with the top down/windows up. I could hear pretty well though at 40 mph though.

Anyways, hopefully the HS500 will be much better.

I'm using the Razr. Supposedly that was the phone that was used to test the BodyGlove bluetooth. Its a decent headset but i'm extremely picky and am looking for something that works well. I'll buy the HS-820 and the upgraded HS-850 and try them out I guess. Supposedly the HS-850 has great resistance to wind noise.
The HS-850, in my opinion, is complete crap. It doesn't seal to your ear, get loud enough, or pick up voice well enough for you to not have to SCREAM into it to keep a conversation. It's bad enough that voice dialing top up at 30mph is nearly impossible. Top down, even at idle, it can barely voice dial because the mic is so bad.

Plus, mine was defective and just died on me after <half dozen full charges. I could forgive it if it actually worked as promised but it doesn't. 0 stars out of 5 from me.

One of my gripes about the bluetooth headsets is how far away the microphone is from the sound source (i.e. your mouth). I can't imagine the microphone sound quality to be very clear. It probably sounds like a speakerphone on the other end.

I've returned the RazrWire since it sucks.

The Jabra BT500 is decent I would say. It works fine in the office and at home. On local roads, it works okay until you get around 40 mph and then it becomes more difficult to hear the other person and for them to hear you. THis is top down/windows up. I'll give it a few more days. Hopefully it'll be better after the windsox arrives from Jabra.

Sorry again for not picking up Bill. Yea I did hear the static. I believe yours is defective since my range is much better then 10 ft. I wish they sold a bluetooth boom. I would definitely get that for our car.
