Default Cat converter debacle

so i got a CEL that gave the code for low voltage so automatically i figured it was O2 sensor like anybody else would. So i replace the O2 sensor and come to find out that the metal inside the Cat got so hot that it came out of place slid down and torched my O2 sensor. So now i have to get a new Cat as well as a new O2 sensor. right now parts alone are sitting at $1175. This blows!!! but oh well shit happens i guess. I love my baby to much to just let it go.
