got my first speeding ticket
so today, i was driving down arrow hwy in covina when i was tagged by a sheriff doing 53 in a 40 mph zone.
i swear in less than a quarter mile, the limit changes to 45mph but i swore it was 45mph. (ive been on this road many times. i was going to give my parents a hand at their place of business)
question 1. if i was speeding less than 10 mph of the limit, can i still get citied?
back to the story...
so this is my first time getting pulled over. im 27 years old and have been driving since i was 16.
the cop asks me, do you know why i pulled you over. he gave me like 3 seconds to respond (or lack of response) before he said "you were doing 53 in a 40mph zone". i need to see your drivers license.
he left and started writing. i guess during this time, i could of told him that my brother in law and cousin is a sheriff officer but i choked.
he came back, asked for my registration and then had me sign the ticket.
i have read about ticketassassin.com and was wondering how many of you guys have tried the techniques on the site and won my written declaration.
***i believe this was a speed trap as he was sitting there pointing the laser at me as i just came over the hill down to where he was sitting. not sure if that makes a difference
thanks

traffic school FTW
If you're going over the limit, you're going over the limit.
If you do a search, you'll find lots of threads on ticketassassin,
(good & bad).
Good luck either way.

Another way to prove you were going 53 mph was to ask to see the radar...That is his proof, other than that you could deny it. Oh yeah, never incriminate yourself. Ask to see the proof. They have to show it to you. Good Luck.

trial by declaration is only if you live far from the assigned courthouse. The only way to beat a laser or radar is to go to the city where you got the ticket and see if they did a survey for the strip of road that you got popped on. if they did not do a speed survey, that means the speed limit posted is deemed invalid. I've also heard somewhere that if there is some sort of power lines (not sure) close to where he was at may cause interferrence. you might want to look into that. good luck.

I had a buddy who used ticketassasin and it worked like a charm. Since you have some time before the letter comes in the mail, check out the website and do some homework you should be able to get out of it but I wish you good luck on it.

fight it. if he doesn't show you win. if he does just tell the judge you want to do traffic school.
or pay and do traffic school, since you were speeding
I live close by. They have a lot of check points on that stretch of road on the weekends.
