Default HELP WITH AUDIO UPGRADE

Hey Guys:

I hope you can share some of your expertise. I've been thinking about replacing my stock audio system and upgrading to an aftermarket audio system. I just want a better (sounding) system for my car, but I didn't realize that it would cost me $3600.00 for the entire equipment upgrade (includes all the installation - new HU, subwoofer, ipod interface, speakers, amplifier, monster cables). I went to get an estimate from Al&Ed's Autosound. This seems abit high. Is it possible to get a respectable upgrade for around $1200.00?

Any reputable local southern california audio expert installers recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I just don't want to be taken for a ride.

I would also appreciate if you could share various set-up recommendations you've done with your cars. Thank You.

Thanks BC & JHoff for your reply/assitance. I will definitely contact Art (Nsxnext1) regarding my situation. Have a Great Weekend.

PS. JHoff, thanks for sharing your link. I'm new to this forum and I've tried to search info on car audio installation but for some reason was not very successful with my endeavor. Thanks again.

NJ, this question has been asked and answered 100s of times on the forum . See the superb Audio FAQ here:

The short answer is yes and no. You can do great with $1,200 but you probably can't get quality with all those electronics for that price. You'd be better off with HU, speakers, and amp and adding more as you go later.

If you are in orange county let me know. My friend is at Advance Car Creations and they are really popular in OC for their custom work and quality. They hold competitions and stuff all the time at their place. I can talk to my friend to give you a good deal on whatever you need. 3600 is way too much trust me. PM me if you want more details.
