they have some turbo street bikes that push out 300hp using that type of gear box...they do make aftermarket ones for cars already. i'm just wondering why no car manufactures have offered it yet.

could you imagine that in a S2k....

Yeah I can imagine it

I rode a streetbike for around 25k miles - after a while it is annoying to have to click through all the gears (when coming to a stop, slow right turn, etc)

Its called a dogbox in a car. You still need to depress the clutch, engage gear (by just a quick pull of lever), release clutch and bam next gear.

dog box still has a "H" pattern though. my buddy has one in his S15. with a dog box you don't have to use a clutch for up shifts, but you still need to push the clutch for a down shift. in the up shifts you have to let off the gas slightly and then slightly pull it into gear....

i'd rather "click" through all the gears than have to go through the gears with the "H" pattern. i go through the gears most of the time anyways when coming up to a turn or light...just habit i guess cause i rev match/heel-toe so much.

That's a sequential shifter.....

There was a recent shootout that Sport Compact did in their magazine. It was against a S13, S14, and S15. The S15 is my friend Paul's...that is a dog box.

some people probably inter mix the terminology, but that's my terminology of them.

the one in that youtube video is probably from Ikeya. i was looking into them before...they've had one in developement for the s2k for awhile now.

Dog box is basically clutchless upshifts....

dog box is up/down.

I dont like slipper clutches on anything but my RC cars lol.

rev matching bikes is very easy, and you shouldnt be changing gears mid turn anyways. Stop being lazy greg and come give papa some love.

ok then what's a sequential?

http://www.ikeya-f.co.jp/en/product_notice...en_shifter.html

rev matching into another gear mid turn is quite acceptable depending on how the turn is setup (decreasing radius). I also upshift while still in a turn after the apex.

dogbox = gear box
sequential shifter = shifter mechanism itself used WITH a dog box.
