Default So Cal folks with the Mugen thermostat

The parts are very cheap, and the install seem pretty simple. Our weather does not get too hot most of the year, would you guys recomend it? Pro's and cons?

Thanks,

Jay

Install is not that simple. You have to do a full coolant flush and the thermostat housing is a bitch to get to. You also need a deep socket for the fan switch. You should also add the radiator cap which increases the pressure in the system giving the coolant a higher boiling point and therefore more capacity to absorb more heat from the engine.

Pros - Cooling system activates sooner to help in stop and go traffic. Helps reduce heat soak.

Cons - May open too soon and not give the car proper time to warm up.

I have these mods, and it does seem to help. I also have the hondata intake manifold gasket, but haven't installed it yet. I've never had a problem with the car taking too long to warm up, but I always start the car a few minutes before I plan to leave. A friend of mine has all the mugen cooling stuff and the hondata installed and I believe it takes him about 5 minutes to get to 3 bars. I have heard that the Spoon cooling mods are too cold and sometimes it's tough keeping it at 3 bars. Install isn't really that difficult if you follow the write up on it and give yourself plenty of time. It's a worthwhile mod.

Thanks folks I'm picking up the parts from a fellow member and will ask the good folks at Spugen to see if they can do the install and the radiator flush.
