Like most have said, Garmin is good stuff. It's what a lotta hikers use/preferred over the Magellan units.

Hmmm....seems like most people prefer the Garmin over the TomTom. How does the voice commands sound? I thought I heard a Garmin one and it sounded "stiff" to me. I listened to a demo of the tomtom, and the voice directions seemed more fluid & natural? Is this true, or am I just imagining things?

I had the TomTom go700 and returned it 2 days later. I ordered the Garmin Nuvi 350, but it hasn't arrived yet. I've read the users manual and I know I'm going to like it already.

My gripes with the TomTom:
Bulky (compared to the Nuvi which is supposed to be the size of a pack of cards).
I had issues with the user interface - when looking up points of interest it would give me a list of duplicates with no addresses. I had a hard time diciphering which In-N-Out to go to when there's 4 to choose from with no city listed.
The maps were old too; although this might be a problem with other navigation devices too.
The voices did sound clear and there were several voices and languages to choose from, but it didn't have Text-to-Speech capability (unit prompts you to

I agree, but the price difference is too much.

goto www.getfeetwet.com good people over there, and they got great prices.
Yeah! I also bought my garmin c320 from them www.getfeetwet.com. Good service and great product. However, costco online listed the garmin c320 for $349.99 plus s/h. You may also want to check out the Nuvi 350 listed at $799 with $150 cash car (same as store credit), so it's bacsically $650 plus s/h. If you are thinking about the c330, then it's better to get the c340 for anti-glare screen, supports FM TMC traffic alerting and Voice announces streets by name (although voice command sound not as fluid compare to Tomtom).

Garmin has my vote.

I've got two Garmin StreetPilot 2610s. I bought mine last June, and then got one for my husband for Christmas. It costs more but it holds more routes. Some of the Vintage Owners have the Garmin 330 and love it.
