Default Stopping rust on the center of the hub

Hello everyone,

I replaced my wheels where the center of the hub is now exposed and there appears to be rust forming. I was thinking of removing the rust and using a black paint to cover it. I'm sure it get's pretty hot down there near the braking area so I'm hoping someone has some expertise on the type of paint to use. Caliper paint like G2 or something I should buy at home depot?

Thanks,
Frank

The surface rust there won't hurt anything, buy you could sand, primer and paint it if you want.

I replaced my oem wheels with work wheels and I don't believe there are center caps. I thought painting the metal would be the easiest method but am not sure of the heat issue. I would think KY Jelly/Astroglide method requires continual application, but if you guys that do this say it prevents rust for awhile I'll try it. If not, I think I'll try some black Duplicolor Brake Caliper Paint from Kragen.
