My dad is going to Switzerland in December.
Should I ask him to pick anything up?
Is there an investment opportunity here, or are Swiss timepieces equally cheap on the internet these days?
Thanks.

My friend who just got back from Afghanistan said that the watches in Switzerland are the same price as you'd find them anywhere.
EDIT: they stopped there to connect flights back to the states.

My wife went a couple months back to visit family and was amazed at how expensive everything was. She brought me back a standard sized swiss army knife and just informed me that she paid $100 for it. The Chocolate she brought back is very good though.

I know that if you buy items above a certain $ am't, it's considered duty-free (I think when I was in Australia, it was over $1k US. The prices were similar to what they were in the US ( I looked online as I was gonna buy an Omega), except no sales tax. So, you'll at least save that much - but not sure beyond that.
Now, I'm thinking of getting a Bremont.

My friends went there some years back and brought a S80 volvo back at a cheap price.... not sure how or why that works out to be such a good deal. I'm sure that's changed by now.

Most of the Swiss/German brands can be had here for pretty competitive prices if you know specific authorized dealers that give great price hook ups (up to 30% from my experience). Depends on the brand too.
Good luck
