Thanks for all your comments. You have all made me realize that my expectations are not realistic and that I need to readjust my thinking. My greatest passion is autocrossing. Drag racing is fun, but not my first priority. I want an S that dominates in auto-x while still producing good times in the 1/4.
I have no idea what your budget is, but if I'm betting you will have to spend quite a large sum of money to build + tune and purchase the s2000.
If you're looking for a great handling, horsepower monster car that can be built to run 10's and be streetable, my suggestion to you is the C5 Z06. You can pick one up in the higher 20's now, and maybe even cheaper when the C6 Z06 comes out.
With a blower, a few bolt-ons, cams, and drag radials, I'm sure you can reach definitely reach 10's in a very short amount of time.
Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

If you got the lovefab gt kit coming out it would't get you in the 10's, but you wouldn't care....it would be sex on wheels...The S wasn't meant to run in the 10's, it was meant to pull out of corners at fast speeds with great handling... but still have descent speed in the straights...like someone else suggested, why don't you get a car that was meant for straights...your looking for a car with low end power (torque) and the s2k is not that...You sound like you make good money if you'd be willing to fund a 10 sec s2k...so why don't you buy a used s2k and turbo it, and buy a mid 90's camaro z28 or mustang gt and make a dragster...good luck on making a 10 second s2k if you go through with it, i'd love to see that... i wouldn't count on it being too reliable though.
10 second daily driver? I don't know of many cars that can claim to be a reliable daily driver and run a 10s 400 m.
mid 12's is very easily done in an S2000 and still remains very reliable.
But this car is meant to drive around corners, so if straight line speed is your concern, I would suggest a different car.

Not that you need my opinion that your goal was unrealistic as you have already realized this, but yeah I think its unrealistic. I know where your coming from though. I sorta want to do the same thing with my car. I love autocross and I want to keep it an s2000 but I would like my car to be competitive on late saturday nights. Plus all my friends drag race. Also a good drag s2000 is pretty rare so it would be cool to have a unique car. If you decide to stick with an s2k let me know. I would like to hear what you have in mind for the car in more detail.

10's in an S2000 while being fully streetable and reliable, and dominating in autox?
I think Jesus has one of those S2000's.
streetable 10sec reliable S2000? I think the fastest S2000 here is Sideways. Not sure if he runs 10sec. You may have to gut your car (aka PKDave & Krazik) and that would make it no fun.
have you thought about a Miatia?
