I didn't know there was a correlation between S2KI members' account age and knowledge or intelligence

Has anyone else seen the recent news from bmw stating that the 06 Z4 will be equipped with the R6 engine from the 3ser. That's about 258 horses featuring valvtronic and magnesuim parts... hmm,I think it will take the S at that point, what does everyone else think?
what's up with that??? bmw should just introduce an M roadster with a 3.2L 333hp motor from the m3...

225 and 3,000 lbs is faster than 240 and 2,700? Are we talking about some hypothetical frictionless environment or something I'm not aware of? Does the Z4 have an auxiliary jet engine? Maybe that's in the 05 model.
Yeah, Scott.....

Did you drain all the fluids out of your car, remove passenger seat, and spare tire? Post pics of your 2700 lb S2k, please!

But seriously, don't compare straight weights and hp numbers.
It is area under the curve that matters most... and BMW engines are very good at making hp earlier in the powerband.

Check out a dyno plot of the 3.0 liter engine vs the AP1/2... it is NOT about the max stated hp.

I could put a different exhaust on my Honda and gain "20 extra hp..." but only at 8500 rpm and up.... not likely to make any difference in MY performance times.

The new BMW engine will be a monster. Not that I'm thrilled about it, but it will be faster than our current S2000.

"Whores"power wars continue... what will Honda's rebuttal be?
I was planning on keeping my S2k forever... but if Honda stuffed the NSX V6 into the current S2000, I'd trade up in a heartbeat.

no you wouldn't. cuz it would throw the weight distribution out of whack...

BMWs even with the "old" 3.0L have been faster than I've expected. I've seen the 330Ci put down 5.5sec 0-60.

Maybe they are more powerful than they are listed. Certainly (in my mind), they are more powerful than the higher "rated" engine in the RX-8. And you can take that to the bank.

The new 3.0L should propel the 3800 lb 530i to the mid 6's and just imagine what it'll do in a 3000 lb car.

I'll still keep my S2000 in any case, since the Z4 is so ugly

However, a new 330Ci would be a nice daily driver
