06 Z4 R6 ENGINE!

Like has already been pointed out...then your car WAS NOT showroom stock. My S2000 weighed right around 2,860 lbs. w/o driver after lighter wheels and my turbo set up with tools and spare removed.

So is it safe to say that the S2000 is approx 100 to 200 pounds lighter than the Z4? If so, to have the same power to weight ratio as the S2000 the Z4 would need 248 to 257 hp.
3.0L has 214 lb/ft @ 3500 rpm- quite a bit more than the s2000 & alot lower in the powerband...
the R6, or N54 as it will be officiailly desigated irrc, won't produce that much more tqw though, ~220 lb/ft- but it should give enough boost to make the z4 noticably faster instead of ever so slightly faster merely on paper as it currently is
Calculating with toque and gearing, here's something interesting. Assuming no driveline losses, peak wheel torque for the Z4 in each gear is:
2,766
1,636
1,091
815
657
545
Peak wheel torque in each '04 S2000 gear:
2,514
1,641
1,188
932
778
650
Advantage Z4 in 1st gear, but advantage S2000 in every one thereafter.
That's not the entire story however, since the Z4 engine looses 14 lb-ft of torque between 3500rpm (peak torque) and 5500rpm (peak hp.) While in the same range for the S2000 (6500 to 7800 rpm) the S2000 looses 0.4 lb-ft. So the Z4 has higher peak torque, but the S2000 holds it longer during the individual gears.
It'd be nice to see a Z4 dyno chart, which would allow for better thrust vs speed calculations...

I am certainly not disputing that the S2000 is lighter and handles better however the I6 in the Z4 is torquier and has a broader powerband which allows alot more room for driver error. I think we all know hitting the wrong gear in the S means end of race.

is one just not listed, or did you use the 2.5L, as that's the only engine available with only a 5 speed, vs. the 3.0L's standard 6 speed tranny...?
Here is a thread where members have weighed their S2000s. Most are well below 2800. Mine is bone stock, and even with a full tank of gas it weighs less than what Honda claims.
