That's an interesting way to think of people who disagree with you.

Back on topic: I drove a C5Z a few years ago and loved how predictable the car felt. The power delivery was very linear, the car felt very neutral in the corners, and I never felt like it was going to "bite" me. Pedal feel on the brakes was nice as well.

I drove a C6Z a month ago, and it didn't seem to be nearly as forgiving as the C5Z was. I suppose that you have to make a car edgier to eek out faster lap times, but to me, confidence in corners is very important.

What's an evo or sti going to destroy a tt rs? Neither are very fast at all out of the box.
driver matters most and i've never met anyone that owns a TT that could drive for shit.
You don't take into account new transmission technology with a simple "D" function or one of multiple pre-programmed computer settings that can all shift better than any human with the best 3-pedal manual. These new dual-clutch transmissions deliver power seamlessly and without interruption and are far "smarter" than you or I; Why do you think it clocks 100km (62mph) in 3.6s with "only" 335bhp? AWD + a smart transmission that's geared perfectly for the car and power output. Show me an Evo, STI, base C6 or C5Z that can do that bone stock, in nearly any weather, consistently and repeatedly with the "average" driver at the helm. Not happening. I can post documented stock numbers for all these cars:

C/D TEST RESULTS: TT-RS
Zero to 60 mph: 3.6 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 9.3 sec
Zero to 130 mph: 17.0 sec
Street start, 5–60 mph: 5.2 sec
Standing ¼-mile: 12.1 sec @ 113 mph
Top speed (governor limited): 155 mph
Braking, 70–0 mph: 161 ft
Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad: 0.95 g

Only limitation against the follow cars is top speed (governed). And the grip is within a small margin of one another between the following cars, skidpad and slalom:

C/D Quote C5Z:

Our test car's engine, with just 1400 miles on it, accelerated to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds and covered the quarter-mile in 12.7 seconds at 113 mph. That makes this Z06 half a second quicker than the fastest C5 we've ever tested and quicker than the ZR-1 model that ruled the Corvette roost from 1990 to 1995. Among remotely affordable cars, only the Dodge Viper GTS is quicker.

Winner: TT

C/D Quote, C6 LS3 (08'):

The new Vette runs from 0 to 60 mph in 4.0 seconds and clears the quarter-mile in 12.4 seconds at 116 mph, compared with 4.3 seconds and 12.8 seconds at 109 mph for the 911.

Winner: TT

I don't even need to mention the EVO or STI, and a C6Z only pulls away from it up top and not by a huge margin.

Numbers don't lie, and the people talking shit about lesser cars (the ones mentioned in the last few pages) beating a TT-RS show just how much they (don't) know about current cars. Yes, the car is overpriced. So are a LOT of others.

And I don't even like the TT-RS.
[/quote]

Those of us who don't live our lives a 1/4 mile at a time might come to different conclusions. Also, unless you're truly racing, faster isn't necessarily better - fun factor and driver involvement matter more to me.

Doddg-
Your son needs a truck or Subaru forester of he's truly concerned about snow. My c5z Is my ONLY form of transportation and I live up here in the northwest. We see a little snow every year, rarely more then 3-4". Your son wants an acrobatic sports car with tq and a snow shoe, can't have both. Only thing close is an EVO or STI and they just don't feel like a v8 rwd car (thats okay, just different cars)

Ive seen slips for a stock C5z that ran 11.7. The TT is not a "faster car" exactly it is just easier for hair dressers to drive and has more grip off the line.

Anyone compared the new boss 302's? Been eying those as well. Seems to be an incredible all around car now! Even the regular 5.0 beats out the M3. I'd imagine the boss 302 is quite a bit better too.

If your son likes to work on cars he can buy a low mileage c5 for $15-16k (or way less) and build it to his liking! Matt Farrah has a great 1998 c5 that he customized to his liking. You can bring HP/tq way up on the stock c5 base, if he doesn't wanna change suspension parts maybe look for a z51 package or be cool and find a more rare FRC c5 like the one linked in an article a few pages back!

Lol @ gigby's comment

And moddiction-
Its funny because I just watched jay lenos garage where he looked at the 13' boss 302. Hands down the best mustang ever built, I'd take it night and day over any cobra. I don't know if they upgraded the trans on the boss but if it is at all like the GTs 6 speed stay away!

I just got back from VIR with my Boss. It's an excellent track car. I was passing M3's all weekend. A guy in the intermediate group was out running quite a few Porsches with only a few upgrades: slicks, race pads, and camber plates. However, I'm pretty sure a stock C5Z would be a faster car than my stock boss with equal drivers. Thankfully all drivers aren't equal.

Also, I got a point by from a '13 Shelby and I felt pretty good about that.

1. Never changed oil in his life, never will, so he'll have to have a low-maintenance car that, like the S2, you can put snows on and drive year 'round.
2. This would put some cars in question, but when I research it, some put snows on and drive through the winter with about anything.
