Motor Trend is such a joke.
I love how they want us to believe that a car with less hp and tq and weighing 200 lbs. more than an fbody is putting down quicker 0-60 and 1/4 mile times than said fbody cars.
It's a simple matter of weight ratios. A 5 oz. bird cannot carry a 1 lb. coconut.

the thing was it was an 5spd auto. meaning it can do low 5 sec all day with no skill
the interesting thing is that it trapped only 100mph. they suspected it was the 4th and 5th gear where for fuel mileage.
so the mustang would get the jump first but at some point it will not pull away from a s2k
if your really worried about kiddies in their stangs beating you in a strait liine A: you probably picked the wrong car and B: spend the grrrr and SC if your ego will take that big of a hit

Wow, a few opposing views and Mulder goes back and deletes ALL his posts in this thread and vows never to come back. Way to stick to your guns, little boy. Come on, be a man! Where's your conviction? Hell, the responses weren't even THAT bad. I've seen much worse in here... I've received much worse; that "blind" man went easy with you compared to me

I read a while back that the first 05 on a dyno put down around 275hp to the wheels, I'll see if I can find where I read that. But the comment about the Fbodys is stupid. There are a lot of reasons the mustang could be faster with less hp. gearing, putting the power down better, driver, hp and torque curve, ect... HP alone isn't what makes a car move. Also, for those that think Ford is making a big mistake with the solid axle, I'm not so sure. They are going to sell a ton of these things for a couple years because they are new, and when the numbers start dropping off, they'll throw in some more hp and an IRS on the GT, I can almost guarantee that. J. Mays said this car isn't going to undergo any major revisions til the end of the decade, they'll have to throw people a bone every once in a while to keep them moving.
275whp @ 3,600 lbs.
or
310whp @ 3,400 lbs.
Do you really think gearing will make up that margin?
