Darker color hides dirt and and looks better as the miles/years accumulate.

How did this turn into an argument about interiors? You can probably get a v8 Hundai genesis but it won't have the level of performance you get from a v series or an M car..... The fact that the interior is nice is a plus but lets not forget bout the beast under the hood.

Haha...nice catch.

I test drove a BMW 545i and fell in love with the power and the handling...but the interior is pretty basic for such an upscale car.
Not basic by a long shot...I believe the nuanced terminology more apt to describe BMW interiors would be "Germanic Stoicism." That is how a Madison Ave chic ad agency would sell it

[quote name='turbo_pwr' date='Jan 4 2009, 06:47 PM'] I've driven/sat in both 08 M5 and 09 CTS-V and you're wrong on so many counts.

Personally, there is nothing wrong with spending more for a badge. Just don't deny it and think your is better because you spend more.
totally. you buy into history/pedigree in machines like these.

it counts. what, do you y'all date ugly chicks because they're cheaper to impress?

that's not how i go to bat. i try to hit a homerun everytime else i'm staying home.

M5 over cts-v no question. E63 over cts-v no question. heck, v8 m3 over cts-v no question.

the american cars are working with less $ put into the car on avg than their jpn/ger counterparts. it's clear as day. the cts-v value will drop like a bucket of rocks in a pond relative to the m5. why? because the cts-v is another solid effort, but will never get $ from me until the american auto industry makes some serious improvements.
You can find 3 year old M5's in the mid-50's now - what's that, $40k in depreciation? Do you really think that a new CTS-V will lose $40K over 3 years? Don't give me the typical crap about relative depreciation in $ terms, for my cars all I care about is the actual $ loss...I'd take a higher % but lower $ hit any day.

I must agree. You really do buy the pedigree of these machines in most cases. I wonder how much staying power the CTS-V will have? Look at everything else that had some sort of Corvette engine in it. They've all but disappeared or are really irrelevant IMHO. GTO,SSR,Camaro, etc. My brother in law sells Pontiacs and they arent moving. Nothing really is at this point but damn. Perfect timing for that new GXP with the Vette motor huh? Not everyone is a street light racer like all of us. I'd say the average car on the U.S. road still takes 8seconds to tear it up to 60mph.

Purchases like these are often emotional ones that stem way back to upbringing and what we process over the years. I'm not sure where ''value for dollar" tends to disappear out the equation for some. For me, it starts to fade around $60,000. You have to think, why would anybody buy another sports car over the 40k Vette. Chances are it can keep up with 90% of cars 4x its price.

Dont get me wrong, there isnt anything wrong with being value minded. I've seen a lot of "value minded" drop over 100Large unflinchingly on automobiles.

Seriously? You really need to look up M5 depreciation. You can easily pick up a 2 yr old M5 for 40 to 50k less then MSRP. To you that's not dropping in value like a "bucket of rocks in a pond"?

Must be nice to live in this fantasy world of yours.
