Z51 has been replaced by the GS. Which honestly is a more appealing setup than either base or z06 corvettes.
It's a tough call on the Z06 vs. the GS.

The bodywork on the Z06 looks less busy (vs. the triple gills, even though I appreciate the historical look). Plus you're still up 70HP from the *glorious* hand built 427 (speaking of historical significance) and down 130 lbs.

The trade off is a pretty significant price difference and the really nice perk of the removable roof on the GS. Since the GS has the dry sump setup and all/most of the other running gear it's not giving up much, and the LS3 is certainly capable.

The Z06 will be gone pretty soon (at least in this incarnation). With the GS providing the look/brakes, and the EoS of using the 6.2L, there's kind of no room for a 7.0L used in one vehicle and likely no desire for a power bump (and required certs) to put more distance between it and the GS.

I think any future "high performance" models will be FI (like the ZR-1 and CTS-V).

The wheels aren't that bad.

However, the wheels would look better if they were another inch larger in diameter.

Enlightening statement is enlightening. Car that weighs about the same with an engine displacement 3 times that of S2000 will murder 4 cyl car. GETOUTTATOWNTHERESMARTGUY!?!?!?

There is a picture somewhere of a Black/Black Z06 with Blue BBK, anybody have that handy? It's awesome

And the point of this thread is not the fact that you could always buy after market wheels, yea no kidding!. Also the point is not that a base Vert can kick an S2000's ass, simply not true for all S2000's

The point is, there is a reason why the Vette has CHEESY written all over it, and in this case it's the wheels..............

I think the wheels are okay, but seem to make the wheels look smaller than they actually are. I actually like the "Gumby" wheels the best out of the C6 designs and it is not just because I have them. The 08-10 base wheels didn't appeal to me much at all. These are an improvement.

That guy doesn't even need acknowledgement. A vette has been a performance icon for over 50 years, doesn't matter what kind of tranny they have. In fact, auto trannies are quickly becoming the optimum choice. Was just playing around there with ya guy.

I'm so sick of ever increasing wheel sizes just mostly for styling sake.

18's all around would be just right for a car that size to me. Decent ride quality, best tire selection (esp. in R compounds), and more reasonable tire pricing.
