Most people cannot tell the difference in performance when they have a passanger vs when they don't, so I doubt most people would care.

Ask any drag racer... every ~100lbs is ~.1 secs, so 400lbs is ~.4 secs, which is quite a bit.
"If you have a car with the same power to weight the lighter car feels better".... how does this make sense? Power/Weight will determine acceleration for the most part. A lighter car wont feel better if they have the same ratio.

It is not that much weight if you're starting at 4,000 lbs...

I guess it depends on what you are doing with the car. Most people who buy SLK's and the like probably just floor it on the highway now and again so 300-400 lbs (~8-12%) doesn't make that much difference. Also, if someone is talking about top speed mostly it makes very little difference.
You only see it in the twisties. But if you're driving in the twisties it makes a BIG difference.

Thats awesome. I wish more manufacturers start doing that. I guess its extra hard with all the new safety standards and equipment you keep packing into these cars...
I remember the 1st time I took my S2000 around the track. The extra power was nice and all, but I still love the feeling my CRX-SiR gave me on track, that car + me + a full tank of gas was something like 2,135 pounds, that's all!
Colin Chapman (Lotus) was a very, very wise man.
