Yep, but it will be the 335i Sedan.

I think the upcoming Skyline GT-R will be the E92 M3's closest rival.

Iceman, I hear you on car classification but if the prices match then some cross-shop is inevitable. I looked hard at the e46 M3 before buying my C5 Z06. I didn't care about the seating capacity but what other almost-same priced BMW should I pick to compare (back in 2003)?

Fast-forward a few months, what performance BMW should be compared to the C6 Z06, if performance part of your reason to buy any car? The new Z4M? The new M3 should be faster than that and closer in price, despite being more of a match in intent.

So if you want a performance sports car ignore BMW? They can't afford that attitude.

but obivously these are big premium luxury 5-passenger cars... so there's more to their price than performance alone...
5 passengers in a 6-series will be a very tight fit. One of the passengers will be giving lap dances in the back.

The GT3 is a serious step up in price from the Z06 and, last I heard, M6's were > $120K but it does get my motor running! I know, at some point $30-odd thousand isn't a big step but at $70K? I'd prefer the GT3, if it was $70K.

M6 start under $100K. R&T had a M6 test that had a 1/4 mile trap speed of 118 mph.

The M6 v Z06 contest should go beyond 1/4 mile speed since the Z06 weighs 600-700 lbs less than the M6.

I think the 911 turbo v GT3 v Z06 debate is more serious but price wise the Z06 can't be beat.

Say the GT3 costs $40K more than the Z06 (true enough) but by the same token the GT3 will cost $70K less than a F430 so depending on where you are will determine if it's a good price or not.

What are these going to cost OTD, with Sport, Premium and Cold Weather packages? My guess is you'll be getting awfully close to $50k TTL.
