Default 93 Prelude S Transmission problem..

So I bought the car for my girlfriend.

It was fine when we got it and this problem has progressed worse in the last 2 months.

When the car is in Park it takes both hands and almost all my might to pull it back out of park and into gear. Its only hung up at the spot between P and Reverse. Once it moves out of P and into R it moves normally and freely.

There are no hang ups in ANY other place on the gearshift, not anywhere in R,N,D,3,2,1.. No where.

It shifts fine too!

Its just that initial move out of park that its terrible..

To move it back into park from D or any other gear is alot better than moving it out of park. You can still feel some hang up there but its more willing to go into park than out of..

What could be the problem?!?!??? What should I check out guys?!???

Im worried one morning shell go out there and ill go out there and we wont have enough strength to get it out of park!

Thanks in advance!
-Dustin

Start using the parking brake and see if that helps.

Like all modern automatic transmissions there is a park lock so you can't shift out of park without the brake peddle pressed. It sounds like this park lock is malfunctioning in your Prelude.
