Default Anyone have this problem?

I decide to put the top down and go for a little spin today because it's the first decent day in months (I live in NJ)

Anyway I get back home, park the car, I try to put the top up but it just won't go. At first I was like whatever but then I keep on pressing the button and it won't go up. I check the ebrake just to see that it's on. I keep on doing it and nothing. Finally I shut the car off and start it up again and it goes up. I'm a little worried to put the top down. Do I need to be concerned? Thanks

It can be in any gear, the ebrake is the only thing you have to worry about.

have you ever changed out the elastic band in your top? if not, maybe it's time.

No, never, I have 27k on the car. My e-brake was on.

So if the bands go bad the top won't go at all?

Not exactly. See my post here for pics:

Bands just pull the bar back as part of the folding process when the top goes down. As they wear and stretch-out the top folds improperly, stretching the top against the latches. The top will not go down completely because the material is hung up on the latches. Eventually the latches will rip thru the top. On the bright side, the top will then go down all the way. Different problem than yours.

I have noticed some small stretch marks which I believe may be the latches resting against the top when it is retracted. To be honest its kind of worrying me, as I have heard horror stories of the latches busting through the top. I have two questions...

1. Is this due to the elastic bands? The top is four years old with about 45k on it, I'm not the original owner so I don't know how it was treated or if its been serviced before.

2. Is this covered under an extended warranty?

I can tell my straps are worn out. I got new ones a while ago but never put them in yet. Will a dealership install them for me when I get my next oil change?
