Default ACURA

While Hyundai targets BMW and Mercedes, Acura takes it up a notch with Bentley and Maybach in its sight. This is Honda

I do like Honda/Acura but don't think they are in the RR/Bently/Bugatti/Ferrari realm. I mean they are cutting it close to the whole VW-Phantom realm. I mean that could have been a great car but no one seemed to care if it was a VW-Pantom (ie. cheaper bentley) no one was biting.

I think Lexus somehow cleaned the clocks of MB/BMW/Audi with it's LS and to a degree the rest of the Lexus lineup seems to be doing well (tho I don't see how the whole Lexus/Toyota thing seems to work, I mean people actually think a Lexus Land Cruiser is any different than a Toyota Land Cruiser?)

I don't see how the RX350 (etc.) is such a big seller but Lexus seems to have got something Acura does not. I bought a MDX (bfd) the badge does not do a lot for me it could have been a Honda for all I care.

I don't think Acura has a lot going for it and IMO it killed off the RSX which was one of it's best sellers (I don't get it) I mean when I think of Acura I think Legend and Integra (Batman and Robbin) I don't see any Integra in the Lexus showroom. I'm sure smarter minds than me are at work.

But I just don't see why a small car can't be sold here. I mean Honda kept the Fit out for 4+ years then it brings it over and it's a big hit. I wonder BMW has the Mini and BMW is going to sell the 1-series and all Acura is doing is bringing over the European Accord well over 3000 lbs and that's the smallest Acura we have now? So nothing small that's what Japan things of the US luxury.

I think the future of the US is going to be smaller cars (Fit, Mini, etc..) sooner or later less MDX more CRX.. I don't say it's going to happen all at once but I think car companies need to put more into the smaller cars. What with the CAFE etc.. it would be nice to have more high scale small cars. I don't think Acura needs to be the next Bently I think it should worry about being the next up-scale Honda car like it was 20 years ago when it first came out in the US.

Why go after that niche only to be the also ran in a group of players that target a few rap stars and some arab shieks? I don't get it. They are getting whipped by Lexus so they decide to try to out do Bently?

Weird. To me their cars are designed to capture a piece of the market, not lead or dominate in any way.

The TL is a good example. It is a handsome contender but nothing special. Gee, they're coming up with a near-300 HP motor, AWD, and a Euro diesel? Welcome to last year's 3-series...

I wish that Acura was based in Japan myself. And I've seen the quality first hand of the N/A built Honda automobiles, and it's just not up to the same standards as my Japanese built Hondas.

Acura has lot the plot completely.
It's a ghost town up there at my local dealer. The only thing good that I see is that you can get a RL on the cheap (thousands below invoice). It's an outstanding automobile, but not at the price they want.

Recently we found out what motor is going to go in the new TSX and it isn't the Turbocharged motor from the RDX, it's the same old shit. What model has Honda come out with that is setting the standard? My Civic Si sedan has the motor from the RSX Type S, more or less, the new Accord is nice but I see nothing (power, mpg) that even tempts me. It's new and better but not by a large margin. I think Honda is spending as little as they can, worried about our economy collapsing, because that would mean low revenue for them. I am seeing the same shit from them on the motorcycle side. They are failing to update models in their lineup (VFR, RC51), writing off others completely (Blackbird)..in fact the only thing they are current on, really, is the 600RR and 1000RR, nothing else.

Toyota/Lexus distanced themselves from each other to create a market, as did Nissan/Infiniti and Honda/Acura started on the right foot. There simply isn't enough of a difference between the Honda/Acura lineup to separate the two companies anymore. Today I think of Honda/Acura the same way as Ford/Lincoln/Mercury simply a mere badge/sheetmetal change for the same car.

As far as Bentley and Maybach, the man needs to wake up.
