Another S2000 replacement rumor..

Yeah, but everyone who's actually been following the development of the NSX knows that they're pretty much near-completion at this point. Not only have w seen the engine and transmission of the new NSX (this was shown in Nov. 2013) but just yesterday, Honda engineers accidently crashed one during testing at Takasu (their Nurburgring-simulating track in Japan)

Part of my excitement about the new NSX - other than being a Honda fan-boy - is that it's a good indicator that they'll produce an S2000. While I think 2017 is too early (it'll probably come out in 2019 - making it a perfect 20th anniversary of the 1999 S2000), we do know for sure that the NSX is coming out. Which again, is a good indicator that there's a potential for the S2000 replacement.

Why is everyone excited... I still don't see the 2015 NSX available.

It's been all but confirmed to be the new NSX. We can even see it - vaguely - looks a lot like the back of the NSX 2.0. They've already been testing the Civic Type R in all its glory - and we have many pics of that for proof.
Also, there was an interview Car and Driver did with Ted Klaus - the head of the NSX development project who said that they'll be testing it at Takasu. I'm just inferring that this is indeed the new NSX based on the fact that A) they were Honda engineers at Honda's testing ground, and B) that looks a lot like the NSX - granted it's been wrecked.
Again, my interest in the NSX has nothing to do with the fact that I can own it - it's going to be priced out of my price range. My hope is that this gives Honda an incentive to build the S2000 again.

The global economy is still in relative doldrums. . . this is why every previous rumor about a S2k successor has fallen flat on it's ass.
What I see happening:
300+ horsepower
~35-40mpg drivetrain (hybrid four cylinder turbo, with licensed bits from McLaren)
Active suspension, 70/30 AWD, maybe AWS.
Will be sold here as an Acura as a NSX jr.
Might start at ~$40K, but a convertible will be $15K more. . .

So let's see what came out before the upcoming NSX, that we also didn't know about before we knew the nsx replacement was coming:
McClaren P1, that new BMW i whatever, La Ferrari, Porsche 918, etc etc etc. Not to mention, none of those cars had a commercial during the superbowl.
I'm not holding my breath for this s2000. Honda has a tendency these days of saying hey, we're not boring, we're still sporty, look at what we're working on that's coming out reeeeaaaaaal soon, real soon.

Also, there is realistically no relationship between the release of the NSX and the S2000. They share no parts and were introduced almost a decade apart. If anything a new NSX means Honda is, as others have said, another decade away from giving us another mid-level sports car.
