It will be more like 41k by the time you are done, but yeah street legality in CA is coming, there is an owner there now so it may be straightend out.
Yeah I know thats what it will end up being with all the DMV stuff added in. I might go ecotec if they offer it, some of the sandrail guys are making insane amounts of power with it, so getting to 240-260hp would be no problem for me.

Wow. Those prices are almost reasonable. Better than I expected. If it gets CA certified I'll be giving it serious consideration. Might be a safer than my motorcycle

Nice write-up. Looks like an awesome track car with the ability to be street-legal if necessary (drive to and from track). No way would I use that on the road though.

Uh, that car is more like a race-car than a street-legal car. You'd have to wear a helmet everytime you step, if the car were legalized or could even pass crash tests.

That's okay. I always dress for the "pavement luge" and wear a helmet when I ride. This'd be an excuse to go get an SA rated helmet with some downforce!

It's so much fun to drive on the street, I thought it would be annoying.
With a helmet it's really enjoyable.

It would get old though if you were not a track nut.

if it's street-legal in Texas, I might ditch my S for this!

Registering one in California would be a challenge. You would still have to fight for the 600 registration lottery (or whatever the number is now) for special constructed cars. I tried to go through that for a Caterham a while back but bailed out. I think they gave out the entire year allocation on the first day that year. I can still dream though
