Default automatic 03 civic

a friend of mine has a 2003 civic automatic, she knows nothing about cars and today she was getting her oil change and the mechanic (if you can call an ez lube dood a mechanic) was trying to get her to change her tranny fluid, she has 30,000 miles on the car. Does this sounds right? i thought for some reason most cars now adays have lifetime fill in auto trannys. let me know thanks.

It would be best to read what it says in the owner's/maintenance manual.

I change my beater atf in my honda civic (1993) every 30k miles. It is cheap, and very easy to do. The 93 just has a drain plug on the passenger side of the tranny which i can insert a 3/8 ratchet to drain out the used fluid. I don't even need to put the car up on ramps to do it. The drain plug also has a magnet which collects all of the fillings in the tranny fluid. Wipe that clean and you are ready to fill.

To refill, you just use a funel in the engine bay to pour in the correct amount of new fluid.

I wish the s was that easy!!!

I had a 02 civic, and the manual said to change it at 100K. However I had it changed at about 30K anyway, it was cheap to do.
