Behold the 2022 BRZ. Finally on target?

Eh, hasn't changed much, but the auto landscape and age of members here have. Rewind 20 years ago, a 230hp rwd lightweight coupe would've been awesome, but now that we've all progressed in life, the 230hp is a non starter. Couple that with the auto landscape really isn't that exciting anymore, well not a whole lot to talk about anymore.
But I like our motley group of folks here, even while we take shots at each other.

For all we know at this point, the new BRZ may be an all new hardtop S2000. It's finally evened up to the S2k more or less. Lets see in the reviews. I sure like the cockpit in the BRZ massively better. I fit comfortably in it. My AP2 was a got damn rack. I really hope this is that "pure" and "simple" sportscar. The price is certainly great comparatively. Positive thoughts on this thing until the reviewers start whining about something. But I think it's going to be a hit and supersede sales on the previous gen.
agreed. FWIW I really like the way the new one looks. The FA24 is supposed to be a stout motor too. Slap a supercharger on this thing and it’s gonna be a riot. Not to mention it’s practical with the back seats as well.
Looking forward to some tuning results!

Yup, a hardtop S2000 is what I want, as my last S2ks had the hardtops. Now, it won't have the frenetic, and endearing motor the s2k has, but I would happily trade that for useable low end torque, which the current car has which made it way more fun to drive around town, and this new one is supposed to have a ton more. And the interior is a tremendously better place to be.

Agreed on all the comments about it being a "hardtop S2k". I never cared for the s2k being a convertible - I gutted my soft top, got an OEM hardtop, and bolted it in within 1 month of purchase.
Before it was a toss up between the 1st Gen FT86 and the ND2 for me. The improvements on this 2nd Generation are enough to for tip the scales in favor of this over the ND2 for me. Being able to pack a set of 4 tires into it is a big plus for me so I won't have to drive my track tires on the street - should be enough to get me an extra day on the track, and I won't have to worry about cording a tire since I won't be driving home on it.
Is there any info on the bolt pattern for gen2? Did they stick with 5-100 or did they move to the more stout 5-114.3?

I wish I could test drive one, the production date is so far away. No info or pics on the Toyota version ?

At least the long wait I’ll get to see the new WRX, STi, reviews of the new Golf R, and if these rumors about the Yaris GR4 coming under Subaru badging are true. For 2 years I’ve read that was going to occur. GR4 being slotted right underneath the STI. So that means 35-38k. I’d say far fetched at this point but worth sticking it out. This will be my last performance manual purchase so I’m in the long haul to make the decision.

The performance brake package on the current generation seemed impressive, size wise, Brembo calipers, and ventilated rear discs, I'm hoping the package on the 2nd generation is as good or better.

Brembos on my '17 BRZ PP feel WAY better than the ones on my '11 987.2 Cayman did. Really hopin they bring the package back, for reasonable bucks. $1200 option on my car!
