[QUOTE=Saki GT,May 9 2008, 08:13 AM] I'm sorry, but driving a 3 and a 1 is not that different.

I really don't agree with people all of the sudden saying that a 3 of all things isn't a diver's car.
ESPECIALLY the coupes. A coworker of mine has the 335i coupe and that thing feels great. Nimble when it wants to be soft when it needs to be. I didn't get to drive it so I can't comment on steering response, however I would imagine it would be pretty superb.

Per the Insideline 135i vs E46M3 vs 335i comparo
http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drive...rticleId=125908

But in this company, the BMW 335i seems almost overwrought. At speed, things happen more slowly in the 335i. Its responses are perfectly quick enough among its competition in the luxury coupe class, but its additional mass (however little) becomes a liability when compared to the smaller 1 Series and more focused M3.

The 335i remains utterly controllable and predictable, but it lacks the M3's precision or the 135i's urgency.

**It wins the editors' popular vote when it comes to the car we'd most like to have if cost were no object.

I've driven my friend's 335 coupe and the suspension is too soft for my taste. The car is quick and responsive, but the suspension needs some major work to make it corner well.

The car did not give me the fun factor (perhaps driving a s2k).

Saki, give it a rest bro.
Honestly, you need to give it a rest - you've been in love with the 1 forever, had one on order that's now mysteriously on hold, and are now stating things like I'd buy an Audi for looks, but a 1 for driving. Thats your opinion, and thats fine - I'm not saying you can't have one, but this religious defence of a car against anyone that doesn't share your opinion is getting old. Let people have their opinions without rebutting everything.

The 1 is an impressive-performing car, but its not perfect.

Well, feel free to show where I go on tangents with any car - I respond to topics on hand and try to remain honest. I support open dialogue of all cars in the Car Talk forum, but we have to balance people's opinions and enthusiasm either positive or negative to keep dialogue open. As well, we have to keep people honest.

Just about every major publication has said the drive is very different.
Really, I can just as easily state that the major publications say they drive very similar - its a matter of interpretation. Try and be more open minded.

Your right. It is a matter of interpretation. If my ass if fat I might not find a seat as comfortable as a skinnier person...and vice versa. Major publications have indeed stated they do ''ride similiar.'' Meaning, they ride is very compliant even though the 3 gets more of a nod.

I have remained honest about everything I know the most about...that being Honda's and BMW's.

In fact, I have never, and i mean never...posted against someone who called it ugly. Why? because I have an open mind. I've never posted against someone who said it wasnt as practical as the 3. Its a total lifestyle preference. When it comes down to the numbers and differences I wont shut up.
