I don't get how the M3 motor wins in the 2nd link and the 911GT2 motor won "performance engine of the year" in the first.

In every category, the panelists judged each shortlisted engine using their subjective driving impressions and technical knowledge, and took into account characteristics such as fuel economy, smoothness, performance, noise and drivability.

That list needs more LS3/9, it has the best mix of the above categories and doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

what has honda done recently that should stand out from other production motors?

the FCX Clarity is amazing, but it's not on sale yet.

Quite simply, the m3 engine won it's displacement category, while the 911 engine wins the performance engine of the year. Happy?
