BMW V10 vs. GM's LS V8s... so the GM V8 is lighter, just as powerful, sits lower, simpler, cheaper, just as if not more fuel efficient but the V10 wins...
Don't get me wrong, the v10 is quite badass, but I really don't like overengineering, point is to make more with less.

When was the last time anyone just drove an engine? These 'awards' have less to do with my choices then even ring times and ring times have almost not bearing.

Good point....but lets not hate on the "engine." I cant stand when you let your foot off the gas fast and the engine bucks in some cars. Lets take the M6's engine. 500hp 384lb of torque and it redlines to 8250rpms. The car weighs 4000lb and its still trapping at 118mph. Yes, I know that gearing, electronics, etc. play into that as well. Part of me wants to believe if the engine was weak it would perform to such a degree.

JK, anyway, I'm just saying that had these journalists been doing a review on chairs, they would choose the 5 legged chair over the 4 legged chair because look, it's 5 legged.

It dosent have to be German. Look at these contests in the not too distant past. These are in fact ''world'' awards.

German > Domestic any day of the week.

Americans have very few engines worth mentioning, Germans have countless engines that have made marks worldwide.

American cars do not sell anywhere as gmuch as Germans or Japs around the world, even within the U.S. they have being losing ground in the past several years.

Just a popularity contest. There are several engines not on that list that SMASH the winners in any relavent real world comparison. How about how long the damn things last? How about failure rate of major components/seals like RMS? I like both the 911 and m3 engines [E46 at least] but this is a goofy contest.
