A Bugatti Veyron SS backs down from a challenge?
The guy from jalopnik sounds like a kid bragging about the car his uncle or friend owns. The veyron and the Hennessey elise-enstein aren't even related cars.
This guys is either on the Hennessey payroll or just a total moron:
He can't actually be that stupid, can he?

So what was the Venom GT like on the hillclimb? Cool, fast, but also extremely normal. I probably could have driven it nearly as fast on my first time out. The power comes on smooth and seems easy to manage from the passenger's seat. It's possible that Heinricy is that good, but it's more than that. Hennessey built an amazing car.
I'm pretty sure jalopnik makes money when a company like Hennessey gives them exclusive content that draws traffic. So whether directly or indirectly on the payroll, yeah, no surprise on the ass-kissing at jalopnik.
And the author of that little article knows mostly late 80's E30 BMWs. He's been racing them for a couple years now. Hardly powerhouse cars, so he has no idea what it's really like to drive something like that. He's pretty convinced of his own driving skills (read: overly impressed with himself), which comes across occasionally, but I don't think he's ever owned a car with a V8, much less a mid-engine twin turbo V8. He's like a lot of "know-it-all" car types - he thinks because he is an enthusiast that he is far more capable than he really is.
Here's a quote from him regarding the Ford GT:

I've never driven one, let alone raced one. I was working at Ford when they were building the GT and saw it on this autocross course at the Ford testing facility where they were playing with wheel stagger and shocks. It's the same course they use for various test drivers licenses. I bet them I could pass the final level (three) I think on the first time out, but they wouldn't let me try.
