Anyone want me to bring up (again) the fact that my SLK55 has been pure bliss ever since I got it in 2004 ?

lol

anyway, I wonder how well this will perform against the new M3 and RS4. Sure it'll have more power and torque then the other cars, but in typical fashion, MB will not do as much work as BMW has on the handling aspect of their car(s). So it'll probably be lower in the slalom, G's and the like, and faster on the straight... *shrug*

And it might sound wonderfully nastier, meaner. But I wouldn't bet against you on the handling outcome.

i am glad you mentioned it. i thought about getting a used one for a while because it looks great on paper, but after reading consumer reports about mb and hearing yours and others experiences, i have been dissauded from going down that path.

The old C class was quite bad when it comes to reliability. That, and the ML are the black sheep to MB's. I can understand BPUKiller being pissed off about it...

I guess it'll take some time for MB to clear themselves of this image they've put in the minds of so many people.

It's not just the C and ML. M-B has a great build quality reputation but an increasingly bad reliability image. E.g., the SL was recalled or had warranty-covered technical bulletin-announced repairs at least 3 times for its electronic brakes. The brakes and their engineering are amazing, but flawed in small ways. Typical M-B situation.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are complaints in road tests about electronic driver aids that cannot be fully turned off. This would curtail the fun compared to the M3.

The C-class has been through more AMG versions than probably any other of their cars. They started with the C36, then the C43, then back to the C32, then C55, and now C63. The new one doesn't really do much for me, but then, no C-class ever has.

At least it'll be stupid fast.
